Psychological Assessment With Purpose

People seek assessment for many reasons. There may be questions about development, learning, attention, behaviour, mental health or everyday functioning. Sometimes several concerns overlap, or a previous diagnosis no longer explains the full picture.

At Zephyr, every assessment begins with the referral question:

"What do we need to understand, and how will that understanding help?"

The assessment process is then tailored to the individual, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all testing package.

Diagnostic and Developmental Assessments

Autism Assessment

Comprehensive autism assessment for children, adolescents and adults. The process considers developmental history, communication, social interaction, sensory experiences, patterns of behaviour, daily functioning, strengths and

co-occurring concerns.

ADHD Assessment

Assessment of attention, impulsivity, activity level, executive functioning and the impact of symptoms across settings. We also consider alternative or co-occurring explanations such as anxiety, trauma, autism, learning difficulties, sleep disruption and mood-related concerns.

Cognitive and Intellectual Assessment

Assessment of cognitive abilities and adaptive functioning to clarify learning needs, intellectual disability, areas of strength and the level of support required in

everyday life.

Specific Learning Disorder Assessment

Assessment of persistent difficulties in reading, written expression or mathematics. Findings are considered alongside cognitive functioning, educational history, intervention and the individual’s broader developmental profile.

Mental Health and Diagnostic Clarification

Comprehensive assessment where symptoms are complex, longstanding or overlapping. This may include trauma-related conditions, anxiety, depression, personality-related difficulties and other mental health presentations.

Complex Assessment

Some people do not fit neatly within a single diagnostic pathway. Zephyr can design a tailored assessment to explore interacting developmental, cognitive, functional and psychological factors.

If you are unsure which assessment is needed, contact us with the questions you would like clarified. We will help determine whether Zephyr can appropriately assist...

What May Be Included

Depending on the referral question, an assessment may involve:

- an initial consultation and clinical interview;
- developmental, medical, educational and psychosocial history;
- standardised psychological assessment;
- questionnaires completed by the client, family or relevant professionals;
- review of previous reports and supporting documentation;
- collateral information from schools, health professionals or support teams;
- formulation and diagnostic consideration;
- a comprehensive written report;
- a feedback and report-handover appointment; and
- practical recommendations and follow-up support where appropriate.

Not every assessment requires every component. The proposed process and fees will be explained before assessment begins.

What You Receive

Where a written report forms part of the agreed service, it will explain:

- the purpose of the assessment;

- the information considered;

- assessment findings and relevant diagnoses;

- strengths, difficulties and functional impact;

- practical recommendations;

- appropriate next steps; and

- a pathway forward

Our aim is to produce reports that are clinically sound, clear and useful in everyday decision-making.
