Assessment FAQ
Do I need a referral?
Many assessments can be requested directly by an individual or family. A referral or supporting letter may be useful depending on the purpose of the assessment. Contact us if you are unsure.
What if I do not know which assessment is needed?
That is common. Tell us what has been happening and what you hope to understand. We will advise whether an initial consultation or a particular assessment pathway may be appropriate.
How long will the process take?
Timeframes vary according to the complexity of the assessment, appointments required, receipt of collateral information and report scope. An anticipated timeframe will be discussed before you proceed, and you will be kept informed if this changes.
Will I receive a report?
Most comprehensive assessments include a written report and feedback appointment. The exact inclusions will be confirmed in the assessment proposal.
Can you work with my child’s school or support team?
Yes. With appropriate consent, relevant information may be requested from or discussed with schools, medical practitioners, allied health professionals and support providers.
Do you provide telehealth assessment?
Yes. Many interviews, questionnaires, feedback appointments and selected assessment services may be completed by secure telehealth video link when clinically appropriate. This allows Zephyr to support clients across the Central West of NSW and beyond. Certain standardised assessments and clinical presentations require in-person attendance, and this will be explained before booking.
Do you guarantee a diagnosis, NDIS access or surgery approval?
No. Assessment findings are based on the available clinical evidence. Zephyr provides an independent psychological opinion and cannot guarantee a particular diagnosis, funding decision or surgical outcome.
